How long have you been at CommUNITY and what do you love most about our church?

I started attending CommUNITY Church in the Spring of 2021 with my husband, Jeff, and daughter, Libby, after we moved to Gaston from Greenwood, Indiana. In no time, CommUNITY felt like more than a church, it was home and family. What I love about CommUNITY is an unapologetic focus on teaching the truth that is written in God’s Word.

What is your role and ministry focus at CommUNITY Church?

I serve as one of the Deacons and lead the Finance & Stewardship Team. I am sort of like the treasurer, bookkeeper, and accountant for the church and for our Latchkey after-school program. I am passionate about Bible literacy and small group ministry. I love the finance team that I get to work with because I get a front row seat to see our tithes and offerings go to work in our community, across the country, and throughout the world.

What is your favorite verse or passage in scripture and why?

It is really hard for me to pick a favorite verse.  I hear people say they have a “life verse” but I feel like I’ve never been able to choose just one!

One of my favorites is Luke 15:7, “Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.”

I am amazed that God would go after me, a sinner, because it brings Him joy to provide me with the gift of salvation. What a gift and an honor to be His!
